The last-minute rush to find candy supplies!

You have a customer come into your candy store (it’s Thursday) who says they would like to purchase 40 boxes of chocolates for a party they are having this coming Saturday.

Awesome! You now have a very good-sized order.

The bad part is, you have an abundance of chocolate, however you only have 15 candy boxes left.

You’re now trying to figure out how to complete the order for the customer without having to make a special trip to go and obtain additional supplies.

Doesn’t this happen to you?

Candy stores, bakeries and other small business owners all know how frustrating it can be to run out of candy boxes.

Fortunately, a little bit of planning will go a long way to preventing the stress and panic caused by running out of candy boxes.

first, think back on how many candy boxes you typically use per week. For example, if you typically sell 100 boxes of candies per week then you’ll likely want to maintain enough packaging on hand to fulfill those types of orders.

However, do not stop there.

Also consider the holidays which tend to produce higher volumes of candy sales. These include Valentine’s Day, easter, Halloween & Christmas. Also, weddings, birthday parties and other event orders can result in larger-than-expected orders as well.

Maintaining adequate candy packaging inventory for these peak holiday periods and/or event orders will greatly assist you with fulfilling the orders received during these periods.

As a general rule of thumb, keeping multiple sizes of packaging on hand is beneficial as some customers may wish to receive smaller packaging such as a box containing four pieces of candy while others may wish to receive larger quantities including a dozen truffles or even a full gift assortment.

If you only carry one size of packaging then you either may utilize excess packaging beyond what is needed or attempt to fit too many pieces of candy into the small space. Neither situation is ideal.

A second good practice is to regularly inspect and count your packaging supplies weekly. This includes counting your candy boxes, candy cups, inserts and other packaging materials used most frequently.

Once you’ve counted the packaging materials, create a list of what you require ordering prior to being completely depleted of that particular item.

This process only requires a couple minutes each week; however, it can ultimately help avoid a significant amount of last-minute stress.

Additionally, always ensure that your candy packaging supplies are properly stored in a clean and dry area. As candy boxes are generally constructed of paperboard, exposure to excessive humidity could potentially cause them to become bent or damaged and thus unappealing to customers.

In addition, no one wishes to provide a customer with a gift box that resembles something that has been sitting in a damp basement over the weekend.

Packagingsupplies.com carries various sizes and styles of candy boxes for candies such as chocolates, fudge, truffles and many other sweet treats.

Properly maintaining adequate inventory levels of packaging supplies allows you to fill orders quicker and reduces the amount of time you will spend focusing on finding appropriate packaging supplies.

When customers arrive with large orders, you want your initial reaction to be, “that’s great!” Not “how in the world am i going to find 40 candy boxes by Saturday?”
